Hello and welcome,

My name is Nazanin Moghadami and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor, activist and community organizer practising in the so-called British Columbia. My approach to counselling is shaped by my experiences as a queer, immigrant woman from Iran, and rooted in feminist, anti-oppression and justice oriented framework.

In our work together, we will explore how the patterns we learned and created as children show up in our adult lives. My approach is collaborative and consent-based. I have training in: EMDR, somatics, Hakomi, CBT, Focusing, IFS, Narrative and more. However, most of my learnings have come from the folks I’ve worked with- working along residents of the DTES fundamentally changed me in ways I cannot be more grateful for; working with survivors of gender-based violence taught me great things about the discrepancy of what we learn as providers and what survivors, specially women, including cis women, might need; and working within queer and trans refugees humbled me in more ways I can count. In my learning journey, many racialized and Indigenous women have shaped my views of human nature, our relationships and what healing means.

During sessions, sometimes we will focus on finding practical resolutions to immediate issues, sometimes we might revisit formative memories from the past. Sometimes we might focus on somatic/the body, and sometimes the cognition/the mind. You will bring your expertise in your life, I bring my professional experiences and we'll meet in the space in the middle.
